TLDR

I've typed on an MX Keys daily for over five years, and it's still the board I hand people who just want great, quiet typing: real tactile feedback with no click-clack, weeks of battery, and instant switching between devices. The S is the version to buy today: an easy 10/10 for work typing.

The typing take.

I've typed on the MX Keys family daily for over five years: the full-size since it launched in 2019, the Mini since 2021. What keeps them on my desk is the feel: real tactile feedback from scissor keys, with no click-clack at all. Your fingers know every press landed, and the room stays silent. Mechanical fans may miss the sound; for calls, offices, and shared spaces, the quiet is the feature.

The rest is quiet competence. It looks clean on a desk, holds a charge for weeks, and moves between my Mac and Windows machines with one key press. The S changes little about the typing itself. It keeps the same scissor keys and the same proximity backlight as my boards, and adds Smart Actions macros in the Options+ app, finer backlight control in software, and the newer Logi Bolt receiver. Buying fresh, get the S. Own the original? Keep it.

Full-size or Mini? I use both, and the Mini is enough for most people: same keys, smaller footprint, your mouse sits closer to your hand. Get the full-size only if you actually use the number pad.

Get it if

You want quiet, tactile keys for all-day work typing
You move between a Mac and a PC and want instant switching
You want battery life measured in weeks, not days

You want the sound and feel of mechanical switches (this is quiet by design)
